End of Spring Inspection 21-05-2016

A fine day for an inspection. Langstroth Hive 1 doing well. Bees have started building on the foundation in preparatioon for honey storage. Queen observed. A sizeable amount of varroa observed in drone brood. Much of the drone brood destroyed.Still lots of honey stores available in shallow super above. Langstroth Hive 2 also progressing in its colony buid-up. Queeen observed, but could not find it when I brought the crown of thorns cage for marking! Damn! National Hive extremely busy and congested. Queen observed to have come down from the jumbo box above to the brood chamber below. Placed the queen excluder above the brood box. Queen cells, some with larvae destroyed, including many drone brood cells. Jumbo box getting very heavy with honey. Cut comb section box being drawn up by the bees in preparation for honey storage.
