Mid-Summer Check

Lovely day for a hive check. Whole place buzzing. The nucleus hive now robbed and licked dry. All bees including the queen dead. On inspecting the hive, there were about half a dozen queen cells, none of them yet capped. Removed. More drone cells the majority capped. Definitely bees experiencing the 'June gap'. Two other empty hives a few metres away have been spotted being visited by bees - could these be scouts in preparation for a prime swarm or could they have been foragers just curious? Hives have never been framed with honey therefore it could not have been a 'robbing' trip.
