Harvest Time

Langstroth Hive 1 - Brood present but queen not spotted. Bees much calmer today. Langstroth Hive 3 (now united with Hive 2) appears to have been a success in unifying the two colonies. Queen spotted and hive generally tidied up and restructured to suit. Fed the colony with sugar syrup and brood box filled with frames with stored honey from the queenless Hive 2. National Hive 1 - Brood present. Last week's 5 litre feed all consumed. Fed again with sugar syrup (5litres). National Hive 3 - Queen spottted this time. Hive still heavily congested. Placed empty (with drawn comb and/or foundation frames) a deep and a shallow supers between the brood box and the honey supers. Placed a clearer board above these empty supers to enable the bees in the honey supers to trickle down through Porter bee escapes in readiness to harvest the honey suppers.
