Beginning of June Inspection
Langstroth Hive 1 steadily increasing. Varroa mite being a problem though. Reluctant to treat with Apiguard at this stage because of the honey flow. Queen not observed. Bees continue to to draw comb on the deep super
Langstroth Hive 2 is also progressing well but comparatively slower. Less Varroa mite infestation in this hive. Queen not observed. Must have gone shy today.
National hive continues to do very well with much Varroa mite infestation. Several queen cells, some sealed observed. Took two frames with both sealed and ready to be sealed queen cells to an empty hive. Fed the hive with sugar syrup. Hopefully a new colony will be born. Old queen observed. Later in the day, a swarm observed from this hive, but the swarm no sooner than if had settled next door returned to the hive. The queen I suspect must have refused to vacate the hive. Will for sure test if the attempt to swarm was a failure or not during the next inspection next week.
