Weather mild, windy and partly sunny. Temperature about 15°C. National Hive 1 - Queen presumed present although not spotted. Healthy brood observed. Presence of drones and drone brood. Possibly preparing to swarm. Did a split using a frame with brood and two sealed queen cells. One more frame with brood at various levels of development placed in new brood box (National Hive 3)(using as 'nuc'). Ample food stores for the nuc. Placed new drawn comb frames to replace ones taken out. National Hive 2 - Virgin queen observed to have hatched although not observed. Langstroth Hive 1 - Queen not spotted. Healthy brood observed. Plenty of food stores. No queen cup/cells. Langstroth Hive 2 - Queen spotted. Healthy brood observed. Plenty of food stores. No queen cup/cells. Langstroth Hive 3 - Queen spotted. Healthy brood observed. Plenty of food stores. No cup/queen cells.
