Routine Inspection - 01-05-2016

Cool day for an inspection from the apiarist's perspective. Not too bad if a good job has to be executed. Langstroth Hives 1 and 2 continue to steadily progress in colony build-up. Observed in Hive 1 for the first time newly hatched bees with deformed wings (2 identified). Have to think seriously about combating Varroa Distractor. Will have to give this particular hive some treatment. The National Hive is extremely busy, the Queen now having moved up to the Jumbo box (to my disappointment). At next inspection, will try to find the queen and isolate her to the bottom brood box. Destroyed a significant number of drone brood. Queen cups (no eggs) destroyed. Overall, very happy with this hive. No queen observed (seen) in any of the hives during this inspection.
