Mid-August Inspection

Hive 1 Bees buzzing all around and many drones. On inspection there was neither brood nor eggs. It appears that the colony is queenless. All frames being filled with honey and pollen. Hive 2 Also noticed to have neither brood nor eggs. This colony is from the last swarm caught. Bees filling frames with honey and pollen. Hive 3 This colony (from the first swarm) is very active and bees are filling frames with both honey and pollen. Brood in all stages of development observed in several frames. I think that the queen is definitely in there somewhere. Hive 4 A hive from a nucleus. No brood or eggs observed. Bees just filling cells with honey and pollen. Hive most certainly queenless. Hive 5 This hive is also from a nuc. Colony looks to be also queenless as the few cells observed were all drone. A worker might be responsible for drone laying.
