Got a phone call from John Smith from the Government inspectorate to say he would like to come and give my hives an inspection for the America/European Foul Brood. He had been advised that some bee colonies purchased from Fragile Planet have been found to be infected. 29 of the purchasee were in Scotland, but to date 5 inspections had proved negative.
30/08/2011 - John arrived at 10:25 hours amid the pouring rain. The inspections were not undertaken because of the weather. John left me with a kit to use (and despatch to the research lab) for the Foul Brood detection once I have the chance on a clear and warm day. Suggested that I give him a call next spring for the task of inspecting the hives.
